Tina Anderson – Show Notes
How did you get started in this industry?
Tina started playing woman’s flag football, running and lifting weights when she was in college. She loved the high of running and lifting weights. After college, Tina joined a gym that lead her to training, teaching and managing classes and programs.
“I didn’t want to go that route full time because I was working in radio and media at the time, I had one hand in fitness the whole time and I was using and leveraging my media and broadcasting skills and management sort of just acknowledged what I had. So I parlayed them into each other and from there that is what I have been doing.”
What do you love doing most of the health and fitness side?
Tina loves showing people how to bring enthusiasm into their workouts, how to have fun while getting fit; especially when it comes to older clients just getting into fitness for the first time.
“(Fitness is) what I am good at, that’s what I like. I like turning people on and finding the spark and connection.”
What are the most common mistakes you see these people make?
One of the biggest mistakes Tina sees are people who “gym watch”. They tend to walk around the gym and mimic others work outs because of the way that person looks. Also, people who only focus on cardio, is a mistake, as well as not understanding nutrition.
“If you’re going to work out, think about who you are and what you like, otherwise it’s just a behaviour that’s disconnected from you.”
What solution or techniques that you use that are unique to you?
She says she doesn’t let her clients get too serious. She asked them to lighten up about working out. Since Tina is an intuitive trainer, she can sense the triggers or ways of making things a little more fun.
How do you incorporate your intuitive training with your clients or programs?
Tina shares that when her clients see her, she can determine the type of energy they are putting off. If her client has had a bad day or is stressed, she can sense that and change up their routine to start off with something their body is more comfortable with.
“You don’t throw in a bunch of new stuff because their body has to work to figure that out. It’s uncomfortable and then mentally there are already in a bad place.”
What do you wish you knew then that you know now?
She wishes she knew everything was going to be ok with her business. She says she spent a lot of time worrying about whether or not her business would be successful.
What are your most impactful books?
The books that have impacted Tina the most are “Women Food and God” by Geneen Roth, “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle and “The School of Greatness” by Lewis Howes.
