Dre Baldwin is the world’s only Work On Your Game expert. A 9-year professional basketball player, Dre teaches Mental Toughness, Self-Confidence and Self-Discipline to athletes, entrepreneurs and business professionals.

Dre has worked with Nike, Finish Line, Wendy’s Gatorade, Buick, Wilson Sports and DIME magazine. Dre has been featured on the EOFire podcast and done recordings with Eric “ET” Thomas.

Dre has been blogging since 2005 and started publishing to YouTube in 2006. He has over 5,000 videos published, with daily content going out to his 115,000+ subscribers and being viewed over 35 million times. Dre’s “Work On Your Game” show on Grant Cardone TV is consistently top-5 in views on the network.

Dre speaks, coaches and consults business professionals on mental toughness, confidence and discipline. He has given 3 TED Talks, published 7 books and has a daily podcast, Work On Your Game with DreAllDay. A Philadelphia native and Penn State alum, Dre lives in Miami.

Dre Baldwin – Show Notes

What got you started in this industry?

Dre had always been interested in sports. After trying a few different sport teams and not being proficient in them, he set his sights on basketball. Even though Dre was tall and could run and jump, he quickly realized he did not have a natural aptitude for basketball either. However, he didn’t quit and he knew basketball would be in his future.

Dre grew up in a very disciplined home where his mother, an educator, was quite strict. Dre notes he was no stranger to a structured upbringing.

“She was very strict, so I had that type of discipline coming from the outside, but once I started playing basketball I realized I knew I could get better if I just kept practicing.”

This was the beginning of Dre’s inner persistence and discipline.

“No one expected me to do anything as a basketball player.”

After attempting and failing to make the high school basketball team in grade 9, 10 and 11, Dre still found himself longing to play, not willing to give up. He joined a recreational basketball team in his community and played with them for one year. When he was in his senior year in high school, he finally made the basketball team.

After high school Dre had an opportunity to play for a Penn State campus. Dre only played one year at the Penn State campus before he was kicked off the team for not seeing eye-to-eye with a new coach. Dre continued attending the university to obtain his diploma and his dream was to play professional basketball, regardless of what had happened in his past.

Dre went to an exposure camp so he could get his talent seen by teams from all over the US and internationally. Finally, in 2005 Dre landed his first professional basketball contract and went on to play a full nine years from overseas to Mexico and a US traveling team.

How did this experience develop you as a person?

Dre talks about a TED talk that he had preformed recently called “The Third Day”, Showing up when the newness wears off.

“It is what you do on the third day that determines your overall success.”

He shares the definition of discipline as doing what you know you’re supposed to do, even though there is no direct reward for doing it.

What do you wish you knew then that you know now?

He notes that the number one thing is investing in yourself. Dre says investments can be made in more than one way besides money. It be done through time, energy and focus as well.

“It is impossible to invest anything and not get it back. That is the law of the Universe.”

What is your biggest challenge?

His biggest challenge is finding the right people who want to work with him and making sure he is managing their assignments in the right way.

“I talk about this all the time with entrepreneurs, if you have employees or virtual assistants and you give them a job and it doesn’t get done right it is not their fault, it is your fault.”

What is your greatest success?

Dre’s greatest success is flooding the world with his knowledge and content in all forms whether it is written, video or audio.

What books have impacted you the most?

“The Law Of Success” by Napoleon Hill, “Relentless” by Tim Grover and “48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene are the three books that have had the biggest impact on him.

Who is your ideal client?

People that are running a business or want to run a business, people who want to learn and be seen, heard and stand out are his ideal clients.
