Jaana Kunitz started her dance journey over 25 years ago, back home in Finland, and made her mark in the Ballroom industry by winning numerous medals in the US, North America and World DanceSport Championships. Jaana is more than a lean, beautiful dancer. She’s an cutting-edge dance fitness innovator too. Jaana has designed, choreographed and directed home fitness exercise programs which have sold millions of copies around the world. Jaana is ACE certified fitness instructor and certifies instructors and master trainers in Figure 8 Fitness.

Jaana is an expert on how the human body functions and what you need to do in order to achieve a dancer’s lean body, she’s the go-to girl for total-body transformation through dance. She loves to help people to unleash their body’s natural power to melt stubborn fat layers as well as tone incredibly strong and powerful core muscles.

Entertainment is in Jaana’s DNA – no wonder her dance exercise programs gets millions of people to get up and move. She knows exactly how to carefully handpick dance movements and fuse them with the rhythms and music so that they are incredibly motivating and inspiring to perform. Jaana is known for her over-the-top, hyper- enthusiastic personality. She makes the class intense yet very fun, and has a way that makes everyone want to DO MORE!

What is your background?

Jaana refers to her successful career and how she has grown from it.

“I never would have known 25 years ago I would be sharing my passion with millions of people around the world.”

Jaana got started in the dance industry growing up in Finland where Ball Room dancing is a big sport. She says the sport is evolving in America as well, with the emergence of TV shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance?” and “Dancing with the Stars.”

How did you transition (from ballroom dancing to fitness)?

After retiring from competitive Ball Room dancing, Jaana wanted to maintain her body shape. She tried many things and in turn decided to develop her own workout program, Core Rhythms.

“I always believed that ballroom dancing is an excellent type of exercise that really works your core”

After creating Core Rhythms, she had the opportunity to start selling the product on TV.

“(The program) just went viral!”

She talks about how when her clients react to the activation of their core after joining the program.

“It’s amazing that many people go through life and they don’t even know how powerful their abdominals can be if they had a little bit more mind to muscle connection.”

What are your success stories?

One mother, with four kids, lost 8 inches off her waist using Jaana’s program, and was able to wear a bikini again.

“This is just one of many (success stories). I totally believe that this type of workout program works (for) anybody.”

What are the phases of your program?

The first phase of her program is having people learn the movements, and how you can really “fire” the core muscles. This includes breathing exercises.

“Many people go through life not knowing how powerful their abdominal muscles can be”

Then the program moves on to Phase Two, which is cardio, as Jaana says that people have to melt the fat off of them first before moving on. To do this, she incorporates dance rhythms and multiple dance styles.

Passion is key for any program to work, and her passion is based around movement and rhythm.

“It’s more than just exercise to me. Dance ignites your emotions for movement.”

The third phase involves sculpting, and resistance training is added. She uses unique movements, incorporated resistance bands.

What are some of the challenges you have faced?

Jaana notes that changing industries after being a competitive dancer was difficult, as most former dancers go in to judging, and not developing dance/fitness programs.

“We wanted to touch more people around the world globally, to give them access to our type of exercise program”

Even though she and her husband were high-level dance competitors, she really wanted anybody to be able to do it.

She says getting into producing the various aspects was also difficult, but made easier by bringing together a “dream team” of producers, directors and investors.

“Core Rhythms was like a magic that worked very well”

What has been your greatest business success?

Jaana feels that selling millions of copies worldwide of their first cd was their biggest success to date.

“That has been a huge success because it was so different. All of the sudden, we were receiving testimonials from all over the world.”
